I knew Bernie most of his/my life.  From 1st grade at St. Joe's to years and years later at the City of Keene PWD.  I miss him.  I believe I called him my "uncle" at St. Joe's.  No need to explain, some might know why?  He always drove when we went to the Army football games whether at West Point or Giants stadium.  We spent many nights together plowing streets/roads together.  We were never "thirsty"!  He was a good man.  Catch you later Bernie.

I met Bernie on the playground at St. Joe's in 1st grade when we literally ran into each other.  We rode the same bus home every day for 8 years.  We were close through high school on the cross country and track teams and for many years after even though I had moved away from Keene.  To know Bernie was to have a true friend.  He would do anything for his friends.  I still miss him and the times we had.

After high school, when I started playing the guitar for Michael McCarthey's Aunt Maude on Washington Street,  and also for Mike's wonderful Mom Marie, I got to know Bernie as a person, not just as a classmate, since he dated Maria's daughter Krista! We talked about sports. mutual friends. and our wonderful hometown of Keene!  I always enjoyed Bernie. admired how he looked after his family, and truly cared about his friends.

Sometimes, I'd run into John Russell and Bernie working a Public Works truck detail, and we'd all chat and laugh about whatever came to mind, and then go on with our days.

Bernie, you're not gone, just ahead of the rest of us, on our ultimate destination! You are missed and remembered; I wish the next time I'm driving on Keene's roads, you, John R., and I could have another one of our enjoyable visits and chats!  God Bless You Bernie!
